Statements Signed by Henke and the Crew of U-515

Captain Gallery, of the Guadalcanal, convinced Kapitanleutnant Henke to sign this statement to avoid being imprisoned in England

Captain Gallery showed Henke's signed statement to U-515's crew and had them sign this similar statement - the crew was unusually cooperative with interrogators

It is unclear wether or not Henke signed this statement while in at Fort Hunt, an interrogation center outside Washington DC. It may be a forgery used to convince his crew to cooperate with interrogators. Henke recanted his original statement and was said to be a very security concious prisoner. Henke committed suicide on June 15, 1944 by trying to climb the fence at Ft Hunt. He was shot by a prison guard.
