U-BOAT OFFICER ON CRUISE

  From P/W's wife.

She writes: JUERGEN QUAET (FASLEM) is probably at sea too. For a quite a time I have not heard anything from his wife. She has probably a lot of work with the two little ones.

JURGEN QUAET WIRD AUCH WOHL DRAUSSEN SEIN. ICH HABE LAENGERE ZEIT NICHTS VON SEINER FRAU GEHOERT. SIE WIRD AUCH VIEL ARBEIT MIT DEN BEIDEN KLEINEN TRABANTEN HABEN.

NOTE: JUERGEN QUAET FASLEM LT.Z.S. (G.N.L.1938) former FLEET AIR ARM MAN, now U. WAFFE. On the 29.1.42 in a letter to P/W BAERNER, QUAET FASLEM pointed out that he like many officers had transferred from the LUFT--to the U-BOAT WAFFE. He gave the F.P.N. M11128 (thought to be LORIENT and almost certain to pertain to a U.BT.BASE) there is a possibility though of his base being at that time in NORWAY. (because in the same letter he mentioned, having met MAENNE BUSCH (MAJOR HERM.BUSCH) on his way to NORWAY) As the date of writing of that letter (29.1.42) the writer was still in GERMANY because he wrote "There at home". On the same date the writer had been married a year only and had seen his wife for about 2 weeks in that period. His previously reported leaves were:

    XMAS 1941 and
    14.5.42.
