    05.12 AE 8988 According to reports from U-37 and U-46 U-99 sent in the clear "Bombed, boat sunk, Heil Hitler, Kretschmer 2 destroyers, 53 tons."  This message was not picked up by land stations, instead reported by U-37.  
           
    18.03.41   Request for position remained unanswered.  
           
      U-99 was declared missing 1 star with effect from 17 March 1941 on 9 April 1941, on 26 April missing 2 stars.  According to report of the International Rad Cross the crew including the Kommandant except for the Chief Engineer and 2 men is were taken captive by the English.
