Ships Hit
 None
Note:  The positions in the table above and in the Google Earth patrol summary are derived from the KTB and in many cases do not match those set forth in authoritative references such as Jürgen Rohwer, Axis Submarine Successes of World War Two or the Uboat.net website.  The goal here is to present the picture relative to the U-boat and not the absolute position that the ship was attacked or sank.

25.10.43 Shonan Took over "UIT-24" (ex Italian CAPPELLINI) together with "UIT-23" and "UIT-25" into the German Kriegsmarine by the Kommandierenden Admiral der 1. Südflotte in Shonan Vizeadm. Tayui, in the presence of the Head of the Department of the KMD-Shonan, Korv.Kapt. von Batorski and the soldiers previously assigned to special unit "Merekator".
According the KMD-Shonan the boat is loaded for the transfer with:

92 tons Rubber 2.7 tons Quinine
  54 tons Tin
  6.2 tons Tungsten
  2.4 tons Opium

As far as can be seen, the cargo is complete and undamaged.
Inside and out the boat is in a completely neglected condition.
Almost the entire movable inventory of all Sections, all of the navigation equipment, all weapons and ammunition were missing at the handover.
In the course of the lay time in Shonan, only a part of the missing items were returned by the Japanese Navy.

26.10. - 27.10.43   Began clean-up work on "UIT 25" [typo UIT 24] with all soldiers of the special unit, because the boat must be made shipyard ready as fast as possible.

28.10.43   Distribution of the previously available soldiers to the boats.

29.10.43   One diesel was made read to charge.

30.10.43   The battery was charged again for the first time.

31.10 - 16.11.43   Cleanup and repair work.  The soldiers who have been on U-boats perform U-boat practice and quickly familiarize themselves with the new maneuvers.
The other soldiers receive instruction on general U-boat knowledge

11.11.43   From the Italian fascist camp the Japanese Navy gave us 7 Italian soldiers per boat that were placed under German command and sworn in by the KMD-Chef.
